E-bikes, scooters and motorcycles: Cat 1 and LTE-M modules by country
Trackers and telematics units on e-bikes, scooters and motorcycles almost all run on Cat 1 / Cat 1 bis or LTE-M: lower power and cost than Cat 4, handover while moving (NB-IoT is not suited to moving vehicles), and a replacement for the 2G and 3G networks being switched off. The table gives, country by country and on the same network-by-network verdicts, the best-rated model of each kind; open a country for its full selection page.
Things to check
- Two-wheelers cross cities and borders: a global variant is simpler than a SKU per country; use the fewest-SKU planner when you need one.
- LTE-M availability differs by operator: the scores already count which networks have LTE-M / NB-IoT switched on.
- Positioning: most Cat 1 bis and LTE-M modules come in a variant with built-in GNSS; confirm it when you choose.
