Round-the-clock remote management
of industrial cleaning robots

Swiss KEMARO's K900 robots sweep factories, warehouses and logistics centres autonomously around the clock: they connect to the cloud at power-up, report status and cleaning records on schedule, and customers and the service team manage them remotely in the KEMARO Sphere web app. The MF833V data card gives each robot 4G connectivity independent of the plant's Wi-Fi, plug and go.

How it works

At night the plant is unattended and the robot keeps sweeping; every cleaning run and every alert reaches the manager in real time over 4G. Click a step below, or let it play.

At night the KEMARO K900 sweeps the plant autonomously and reports its status on schedule; the MF833V data card plugged into the robot sends the data, encrypted, over 4G to the KEMARO cloud, where customers and the service team manage it in the web app Plant · unattended at night Remote management Charging dock 1 K900 cleans autonomouslyLidar + 3D sensors map in real time Battery 82% Cleaning report ready Dust bin nearly full 2 Reports status on schedulePosition, cleaning records, alerts 3 MF833V · 4GNot on the plant's Wi-FiOnline at power-up 4 KEMARO cloudHTTPS encryptionRobot token authentication Cleaning done 5 KEMARO SphereScheduling, reports, remote service

Why a cellular data card

KEMARO promises "no installation, just set it down and it cleans"; for a robot to be managed remotely the moment it arrives on site, connectivity has to be just as simple.

Without the cloud someone must stand next to the machine

KEMARO's robots connect to the cloud at power-up and report status on schedule, so users can manage them remotely and see every cleaning record. The K900 product manual lists system connectivity as Wi-Fi hotspot and LTE; the K900 TOP also includes five years of KEMARO cloud service.

The K900 also works without the cloud, but then you have to be next to the machine to access it.KEMARO blog, "Above the clouds, the memory must be limitless" (paraphrased)

Why cellular rather than the plant's Wi-Fi

Plants often cover tens of thousands of square metres, and Wi-Fi rarely reaches every corner; connecting outside equipment to a customer's internal network usually needs IT approval and a security review. Cellular lets the robot connect wherever it is placed, and the data never passes through the customer's network, in line with the promise of "no installation, plug and go".

A robot that cleans as soon as it is set down should also connect as soon as it is set down.Hyper Nexus

Applications

Typical applications listed by KEMARO; each needs the robot online around the clock and manageable remotely at any time.

High-bay warehouses

Cleans more than 40,000 m² in a few hours; low enough to reach under the racks; routes planned in software.

Food production

Removes fine dust such as flour and sugar and packaging scraps, lowering the risk of cross-contamination.

Pick-tower warehouses

Moves between narrow aisles and racks without interrupting picking.

Block storage

Works between densely stacked pallets and forklifts, clearing broken wood and plastic strapping.

Milestones

From the world's first autonomous industrial dry-cleaning robot to more than 600 industrial customers.

  1. Three Swiss engineers, Armin Koller, Thomas Oberholzer and Martin Gadient, found KEMARO in Eschlikon, Canton of Thurgau.

  2. Launch of the world's first fully autonomous dry-cleaning robot for industrial use: no water, no chemicals.

  3. The flagship K900 cleans autonomously without programming, with real-time monitoring, performance tracking, reports and remote service through the KEMARO web app and cloud.

  4. We provide 4G cellular connectivity for KEMARO robots, so they reach the cloud at power-up in plants around the world.

  5. Series B pre-close of USD 5 million; more than 1,500 robots sold to over 600 industrial customers, including Unilever, Nestlé, BMW and Amazon; launch of the K700 for lower spaces.

What it brings to the plant

The figures below come from KEMARO and its distributors.

Cleaning rate

1,000 m²/h

The K900 Smart cleans at 0.7 m/s with a 90 cm cleaning width, around the clock, with no operator needed.

Coverage

100,000 m²

One robot covers about 20,000 m², extendable to 100,000 m² with several docks; it is also the only autonomous cleaning solution for automated storage and retrieval systems.

Data security

HTTPS

Robot–cloud communication is encrypted with HTTPS and authenticated with a token on the robot; the robot doesn't rely on 360° cameras or collect visual data, addressing customers' concerns about industrial espionage.
